Dr. Brett Neal
Dr. Brett Neal is a highly trained optometrist, specializing in Cornea and External Disease and Specialty Contact Lenses. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Pre-Medicine followed by a Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. While obtaining his degree, he spent one and a half years in clinical externships through The Eye Institute (Philadelphia), The YKHC Hospital (Bethel, AK) as well as multiple private practices throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey gaining additional experience in management of ocular diseases, pediatrics and low vision.
Following his externships, Dr. Neal completed his residency at The Eye Institute, with clinical honors in Cornea and External Disease and Specialty Contact Lenses. As part of his residency training, Dr. Neal helped provide pre- and post-operative care for cataract, corneal transplant and refractive patients. The residency allowed him to acquire years worth of specialty contact lens fitting experience. His expertise in fitting specialty contact lenses, including toric, multifocal, gas-permeable, scleral and hybrid contact lenses, is such that he organized and taught several advanced workshops for contact lens students.
After completing his residency, Dr. Neal accepted a position as Chief of Contact Lenses for James Lewis, MD where he later also became Director of Glaucoma Services. As Chief of Contact Lens Services, Dr. Neal was responsible for all specialty lens fits in the practice including fits for keratoconus, post-refractive surgery, and post-corneal transplant patients.
Dr. Neal joined Dr. Goldberg’s practice (now Neal Eye Group) in 2014. He is enjoying fitting standard soft contact lenses again in addition to the specialty rigid gas permeable and scleral lenses. He resides in Conshohocken with his wife Erin, son Logan, and dog Chloe. Feel free to say hello when you see him at Feine, Bar Lucca, The Fellowship House and other locations in town.
